Even though our summer launch is over, we still have several events planned for this fall, including an edible mushroom growing workshop and a kafir workshop, so stay tuned!

Youth Taking Root will be at this year’s Supercrawl, and we have several events planned! We will be in the Kids Zone on Saturday, September 12th from 10am to 7pm.

We are still accepting artwork from students! We will display all artwork and have the public vote for Best Environmental Message ($50) as well as their favourite piece. First place will win $75, second will win $50 and third will win $25. As well, all students will receive a thank you gift for submitting their work. Any grade and any medium is acceptable. You can submit previously created work, and you can sign up even if your work is not yet complete. If you have any questions, would like more details, or you would like your art to be part of this showcase, please email

Along with the art showcase, we will feature dresses made from recycled materials! These dresses were created by YTR members, and will be on display for you to look at and take pictures with! “Try on” our dresses and share with #YTR !

A YTR member will be giving demonstrations on how to create native plant seed bombs! Drop by our table, make seed bombs and plant them around Hamilton! As well, we have an interactive art display for kids! Create an origami butterfly or swan,  and/or help us paint our branch to create a beautiful finished piece for our display case!

Come by our table this Supercrawl for all these events, as well as YTR information, email sign up sheets, and sign up sheets for our edible mushroom growing workshop and kafir workshop.
